With spring 2015 now well underway, we’ve been enjoying all the perks of the sweetest season, from rocking chic sun dresses to taking warm evening walks, hand in hand with that special someone.
Speaking of hands, though, there’s another thing we love, love, LOVE about spring: spring inspired manis! Whether you choose to play with traditional pastels or go bold with tangerine and strawberry shades, there’s a seasonal manicure out there to suit everyone’s unique style.
We’ve spent the last few days hunting down some of our fave simple, spring nail art designs. These fun manicures are the perfect way to enhance your look and add a pop of colour to any outfit. Best of all, they don’t require a lot of tools or experience, so they’re perfect for newbies.

Rainbow Polkadot Nail Art
If you’re inexperienced with nail art, this vibrant rainbow polkadot manicure is a great choice. It looks amazingly cute while being super easy to recreate.
Simply apply a base coat, then paint each nail using a vibrant colour. If you’re a real trend-setter, you might want to take inspiration from Pantone’s Top Colours for spring, but anything eye-catching (we love China Glaze’s Aztec Orange) will do the trick. Once your initial coat of polish is dry, just add dots using OPI’s Alpine Snow. Don’t worry if you don’t own a dotting tool – a toothpick will work almost as well!
Voila, a simple manicure that looks almost good enough to eat!

Simple Sakura Blossom Nail Art
Long before the winter weather transforms into beautiful warm days, it’s the blooming flowers that promise us spring is on its way. In Japan, it’s the famous cherry blossoms that signal the change of the seasons. These beautiful, pink flowers are perfect for nail art newbies and veterans alike, as their complexity is totally up to you.
The simple design above can be created by applying a base coat to the nails, then adding an intense pop of blue, such as China Glaze’s Bahamian Escape. Once your blue colour is dry, use a thin nail brush to draw a few dark brown branches on either side of your nail. Less is more – don’t over crowd things.
Switch to a dotting tool or toothpick to add the center of your flowers using a bright pink colour. Finally, pick up OPI’s Alpine Snow on your dotting tool. Place 3-4 white dots for petals around the center of your blossom, then top coat.
This design is refreshing, cheerful and bound to get you in the mood for spring.

Cool Dandelion Nail Art
Sticking to the floral theme, why not try your hand at some dandelion nail art? This design is ideal for those of you who can’t stand pinks and other sweet pastels. Instead of being in-your-face girly, it offers a cool, monochrome approach to a manicure with just a hint of femininity.
To get the look, apply a base coat, then paint your nails in a slate grey-blue colour. Once this dries, pick an accent finger to place your main design on. Generally, the ring finger is best.
Using a toothpick or nail art brush, draw a line up from the center bottom of your nail to form a stalk. Finish the line with a ‘u’ shape, then fill it in. Now, using OPI’s Alpine Snow, paint soft, little strokes coming out of the top of your ‘u’ shape. Once you’ve formed the dandelion, create ‘t’ strokes to represent free-flowing seeds. Top coat using OPI’s top coat and you’re done.
Cute Watermelon Nails
Let’s finish our list with some deliciously juicy watermelon nails. These funky, fruit inspired nails are perfect for spring and a lot less daunting to create than they might appear!
To begin, apply a base coat to your nails. Next, add a coat of lime green polish, like China Glaze’s I’m With The Life Guard. When that’s completely dry, paint your nails with a generous layer of China Glaze Love’s A Beach, or an equally poppin’ pink. Don’t go all the way to the edges – you want a sliver of green rind to poke through.
Next, clean up the transition between green and pink using a white stripping brush or toothpick. Follow the line, transforming it into a smooth ‘u’ shape. Now, switching to a black or dark brown polish and dotting tool, add watermelon seeds around the baseline of your nails in a half moon shape. Top coat to finish.
Super juicy, right?
